Tenor saxophone
The tenor saxophone is a relatively big instrument, it has a bigger mouthpiece than the alto, and is widely popular in rock and jazz music. It is very popular because it plays in the key of B♭.
Alto saxophoneThe alto saxophone is considered the beginner saxophone for new players. It is a medium sized instrument, making it easy to hold for younger players. It also has a small mouthpiece, adding to the fact that it is easier to play for younger musicians. It plays in the key of E♭. The alto is a common instrument that you will find in many elementary school bands.
Sopranissimo saxophoneThe sopranissimo saxophone (also known as the soprillo saxophone) is the smallest saxophone in the saxophone family. It plays one octave above the soprano saxophone. The sopranissimo has a very small mouth piece, making it very difficult to play. There is a very small demand for sporanissimo saxophone's making them quite more expensive than an alto or tenor.
Contrabass saxophoneThe contrabass saxophone is the second lowest pitched saxophone. It is extremely large standing at 1.9 meters and weighing around 20 kilograms. It is pitched to the key of E♭, one octave lower than the baritone saxophone.

Baritone saxophoneThe baritone saxophone is one of the largest saxophone in it's instrument family. It has a very deep sound making it perfect for jazz solo's. Because of it's size, the player has to wear a harness to bear the weight of it.
Soprano saxophoneThe soprano saxophone is primarily played by experienced musicians, and not beginners. Like the tenor saxophone, the soprano plays in a B♭, and is the highest pitched saxophone. Depending on how it's played, the soprano saxophone can give off a variety of pitches. It is one of the saxophone's that can take a while to master.
Bass saxophoneThe bass saxophone is the largest saxophone. It was the first saxophone to be shown to the public in 1841. The modern bass saxophone is pitched in a B♭. It is not commonly used in any music but was apart of some 1920's jazz recordings.
Sopranino saxophoneThe sopranino is one of the smallest saxophone's. It is pitched in the key of of E♭, an octave higher than the alto saxophone. The sopranino saxophone creates a sweet sound and even though it is one of the least common saxophones to be played, it is still being produced by several major musical manufacturing companies.
